Aryabhata, a brilliant Indian mathematician and astronomer from the classical age of Indian mathematics, is often referred to as a key figure in its development. Born in 476 CE, his work "Aryabhatiya" introduced significant concepts, including a system of phonemic number notation, algorithms for finding square and cube roots, and trigonometric functions. He also made remarkable contributions to astronomy, such as proposing a heliocentric model of the solar system.
