Top Tech Headlines
Namaste, tech enthusiasts! What a massive day for Indian technology. The biggest news making waves is that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the Emerging Science & Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 in New Delhi tomorrow. At this event, he will launch the much-awaited ₹1 Lakh Crore Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund. This is a huge deal, folks! The government is aiming to give a major boost to our country's R&D ecosystem, with a special focus on encouraging private sector-driven research. The conclave itself will see over 3,000 participants, including top scientists and policymakers, who will discuss critical areas like AI, semiconductor manufacturing, and space technology. This move is set to seriously accelerate India's journey to becoming a global innovation hub.
In other big news, the government is also planning to introduce a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act. This new law will aim to properly regulate deepfakes and other AI-generated content. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is currently holding public consultations on the draft rules, which are framed under the existing IT Rules of 2021. However, legal experts have pointed out that a dedicated AI Act is necessary, as the current IT Act doesn't specifically cover AI. The government's goal is to tackle the growing menace of misinformation and deception caused by deepfake technology, so this is a step in the right direction for a safer digital space for all of us.

Digital India & Startups
On the Digital India front, there's some good news for all of us. The government is rolling out a Nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign 4.0 throughout November. This is a fantastic initiative to make life easier for our pensioners. The campaign is pushing the use of Aadhaar-based Face Authentication technology, so pensioners can submit their Life Certificates from the comfort of their homes without needing any biometric devices. This is a great example of how technology can be used to empower our senior citizens. Plus, from November 1st, Aadhaar updates for things like your name and address can be done completely online, which means no more standing in long queues!
Now, for some news from the startup world. A recent report has highlighted a bit of a sobering reality. It seems that the median salaries for tech roles in India have seen a significant drop of about 40% in 2025 compared to the previous year. The report suggests that this is due to a global recalibration after the remote-hiring boom during the pandemic. On the other hand, tech salaries in the US have soared as companies there are battling to hire top talent, especially in the field of AI. While this might sound a bit concerning, it also points to a maturing Indian startup ecosystem that is now focusing on sustainable growth. With over 1,550 domestic investment funds, India is still the world's third-largest startup ecosystem, and the entrepreneurial spirit here is stronger than ever.
