NVIDIA Goes All-In on Indian Deep Tech!

Okay, folks, this is big news! Global tech giant NVIDIA has officially joined the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA) as a founding member and strategic advisor. For those who don't know, 'deep tech' refers to companies working on fundamental, research-driven technologies like Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, space tech, and robotics. This is not your everyday app startup; this is the stuff that will shape our future.

The alliance, which was launched back in September, has also just secured over $850 million in new capital commitments. That's a massive injection of funds aimed at solving a long-standing problem for our most innovative startups: getting the money they need to grow. These startups often have long development cycles and uncertain paths to making money, which can scare away traditional investors. With NVIDIA's expertise and this new funding, we can expect to see some truly world-class innovation coming out of India. The alliance members, which now also include big names like Qualcomm Ventures and Kalaari Capital, plan to deploy this capital over the next five to ten years, providing not just money but also mentorship and network access. This is a huge vote of confidence in India's tech prowess!

LG's 'Make in India' Dream Gets Bigger

The 'Make in India' initiative is getting another shot in the arm, this time from the Korean electronics behemoth, LG. According to recent reports, LG Electronics is seriously considering moving some of its production of factory equipment to India. We're not just talking about assembling TVs and fridges here; we're talking about making the high-tech machinery that is used to set up automated factories for electronics. This is a massive step up the value chain!

As if that wasn't enough, LG Corp is also investing a whopping ₹1,000 Crore to set up a brand new global R&D centre in Noida. This facility is expected to create around 500 new jobs and will operate directly under the Korean parent company. LG's confidence seems to be fueled by the incredible growth of India's electronics manufacturing industry. They've already started supplying machinery for the manufacturing of Apple's latest iPhones in India at plants run by Foxconn and Tata Electronics. More manufacturing, more R&D, more high-skilled jobs – what's not to love?

Govt's ₹1 Lakh Crore R&D Fund & Startup Buzz

The government is making serious moves to boost innovation. At the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 that kicked off this week in New Delhi, the Prime Minister launched the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund. The main goal of this massive fund is to encourage the private sector to lead the way in R&D, helping India become self-reliant in critical and emerging technologies like AI, semiconductors, and green energy.

On the startup front, the action continues. Today, Nagpur-based modular furniture maker Spacewood announced that it has raised a massive Rs 300 crore in funding from A91 Partners.
